Tomorrow, We Party

The banner is ready, rolled up and leaning against my desk. The food is ordered, including delectable cheesecakes for dessert. The name tags are printed and ready to identify the special guests. The musicians are booked and bringing their A game. And everyone gets a free drink ticket. The 40 Under 40 / Top 25 Women in Business Celebration is tomorrow.

Yesterday, I spent about an hour playing arts and crafts to make sure all the table tents are cut, folded, taped and ready. This event has been in the works for months now, starting with touring venues to choose a location. I’m proud of this party and all the work that went into it.

It’s thrown each year in honor of the most recent 40 Under 40 and Top 25 Women in Business winners. All past and present winners are welcome. In fact, all are welcome, whether they’ve won, know someone who’s won, or just like to eat free food while listening to live music.

It’s from 5 to 7 p.m. April 6, in the City Scape Ballroom of the Radisson in Fargo. RSVPs are closed, but show up anyway. I’d love to have more people than planned. I’d be proud to have a packed house to celebrate our winners.

And I’d only be a little embarrassed if we ran out of food for the larger-than-expected crowd. I’ll make sure Pizza Hut is on call.
